Yes you will! I'll my slugs come with their very own adoption certificate
What is my slug made of?
I use earthenware or porcelain clay, deepening on your slug. Once it is fired it transforms into a ceramic slug.
The glazes vary from standard clear to opalescent.
How long will it take before my custom slug is ready?
It may take up to six weeks before your slug is ready to dispatch.
I make each slug by hand and from scratch. I start with a lump of clay that I mould individually
into a slug shape, incorporating your custom design before letting it dry completely. The length
of the drying process can depend on weather conditions – if it is humid or damp and cold this
process can take considerably longer than on hot, dry days. Large slugs will take longer to dry
than small slugs. Once I am satisfied that the slug is completely dry it is then dry painted with
underglazes and fired. The firing takes a full day. It is then dip glazed and fired again. If I apply
additional finishes (such as gold or opalescent lustres) the slug will be fired a third time.
How will I know when my custom slug is ready?
I will send you an email letting you know your slug is ready. You can then confirm whether you
will come and pick it up from my studio in Coburg North or whether you want it to be sent to
you using Australia Post.
How will I know when my slug will arrive?
I will email you the Australia Post parcel tracking number when I dispatch your order.
Unfortunately, I have no control over how long Australia Post will take to deliver the goods.
How much will postage and packaging cost?
I apply a flat rate for postage and packaging. As at January 2026 it is:
1. for parcels sent to locations within Australia AUD $10.00.
2. parcels sent anywhere outside Australia AUD $20-30.
Can I ask you to use express post or to insure my parcel?
You should tell me if you want me to use express post and/or if you want your parcel insured
(to cover the risk of damage by Australia Post). You will need to pay all relevant costs and will
be responsible to make any applicable claim.
Why might my custom slug cost more than slugs available at markets or on-line?
Custom slugs are made just for you and to your unique specifications.
Why do I need to pay a non-refundable deposit?
The deposit recognises the time and effort I will take to interpret your ideas and create the
indicative sketch of your slug.
My slug is a gift… will the price show on the packaging?
No, I never include the price on any items I send by post.
